For many years individuals through out the County of Los Angeles have endured
many challenges in the political arena. Due to various factors, some may have
felt their voice would not make a difference. The efforts to address a wrong
would be wasted energy. Energy needed to provide for their families and at their
place of employment. These are your friends, relatives and co-workers. People
just like you!
At some point everyone reaches a point of decision. No matter the motivating
force, a point is reached. At that time a decision is made to take action or
forever give up the will to fight.
When that point is reached, it does not matter the size of the foe or the odds
of success. Engaging in the battle and the will to fight is a victory in itself.
When the three LA County Supervisors made their decision to remove the cross
from the county seal and not allow the people to vote, that point was reached.
At that time, individuals such as Dennis Prager, Jeffers Dodge, Sandra Needs
and many others, who were not acquainted and who shared many different ideals
came together and began to fight against the wrong done to the residents of
the county.
We are men and women who have had made the decision, not to sit back and allow
our freedoms to be removed without a fight.
David Hernandez, a community-advocate and former congressional candidate filed
the documents needed to begin the effort. By filing for a petition to place
the matter on the ballot, the people were given a vehicle they could use to
address their grievances.
The Committee to Support the Los Angeles County Seal was established to provide
the people with a source of information, materials and support.
Our volunteers are leaders in their communities, in their churches and civic
groups. They range from elected officials to retired county employees.
We are an army of grassroots community advocates with the willingness and determination
to fight for the rights granted to us as Americans.
