The
County of Los Angeles consist of 88 cities from Lancaster to the north, Palos
Verdes to the south, Westlake Village to the west and Pomona to the east.
The county is already divided into State Assembly Districts. There are 26 districts
and they are numbered 36 through 61. The districts vary in size as far as land,
but are consistent in population. (see map)
Each AD is required to have a Chair and Co Chair. They must be willing to accept
the responsibility to be a vital contact for their district. They will be responsible
for the distribution of information to the volunteers within the AD. They will
maintain an updated list of volunteers. They must keep apprised of community
events taking place within the AD and pass the information onto us for notification.
They can have and are encouraged to be creative and take the initiative in
establishing events in their AD. They must turn in signed petitions each Monday
to one of the Regional collection Centers.
Each AD will be supplied with materials needed to complete their task: petitions,
clip boards, banners, signs, forms, ID badges. We will provide information on
businesses which have been contacted in the AD such as Wal-Marts, Trader Joe's
etc. We will have already gotten permission to circulate petitions and you will
be provided with the contact information as well special instructions for that
location. We will continue to provide volunteers to the AD and the Chairs can
develop volunteers, groups and businesses who want to get involved or who will
permit the circulation of petitions.
If there are special events which require funding, i.e., fees for booths or
tables, the committee will pay the cost.
*** Check with us first***
AD Chairs & Co Chairs must have an e-mail contact point and a cell phone
or pager.
There should be a core group of volunteers established in the AD who will report
to the AD Chairs with information and requests.
Most importantly HAVE FUN. You will get to interact with all types of people and possibly make some new friends.
